As a dance instructor myself, I have very high standards for technical training and pedagogy, and Helen at Hermosura Dance Studio exceeded all of them. I brought a group of ladies for a styling class, and the entire experience was beyond expectation. Helen is incredibly talented, but more importantly, she is a clear, confident, and fun educator. Her ability to break down complex movements while keeping the energy high is the best instruction I’ve seen. Whether you are a beginner or a pro, you are in excellent hands here!

I want to give a big shout out to Helen for her amazing talent. I was referred to her and contacted her last minute to teach my girls a combo hip hop/salsa/reggaetón routine for their quinceneara. Helen only had about a month to teach the girls and their partners a routine and she nailed it. Girls started off with hip hop and reggaetón and Helen added a salsa dance and the end and it was the perfect ending to their performance. Helen was professional, patient and took her time with my girls and their chambelanes. Thank you Helen for an amazing job. My daughter loved every second of her time learning the dances for her best friend’s Quince. The studio was well organized, we knew exactly what was happening, and when. On the day of the event everything was perfect. We even got a surprise dance from Helen and two of her dancers at the Quince. They were phenomenal! So thankful our friend used this studio and made this celebration one to remember.

Let me start by saying that the very first time i saw Helen perform i remember turning to my brother and saying ” I want to dance like her ” I could not get over how much talent she had (and still has!) I wanted her to train me but i never in a MILLION years thought that it would actually happen. BUT IT DID YOU GUYS! Helen is the most talented coach/director ever! She has taught me so such and i am beyond grateful that im able to not only call her my teacher but my friend. She is the type of person who genuinely cares about the growth of each of her students and it shows in the connections she has with each team member/student. Joining her team was one of the best decisions i have ever made! And all of her classes are AMAZING! If you want to unleash your inner badass you need to try her heels class! My favorite! It’s been over a year, and I can still confidently say that Helen is the best dance teacher I’ve ever had. When I first started with Hermosura Dance Productions, Helen offered one multi-level class where she differentiated the instruction within the class. Then the offerings expanded to a beginner and an intermediate class. Even with the leveled classes, Helen continued to offer different styling and footwork options within each class so that I was feeling challenged in BOTH the beginning and intermediate classes (in the most fun and accessible way). What impresses me most is Helen’s ability to observe all of the dancers, (while leading the steps), provide very specific feedback, and still crack jokes at the same time. Last but not least, you KNOW that Helen really cares about her students because she never rushes us out after class. She always encourages us to stay and practice so that she can clarify tricky steps and answer questions. If you want to meet the most spectacular dance teacher, I’ll see ya on her dance floor!

Helen is an amazing instructor! She is very friendly and welcoming, and she works so well with all skill levels. My partner and I are complete beginners and are trying to learn salsa for our wedding. We are so happy we chose Helen as our wedding choreographer for our June 2024 wedding. My husband and I had little to no dance experience, but Helen created a beginner-friendly routine for our wedding song that made us look like seasoned dancers. I showed her some YouTube videos for inspiration, and she completely nailed the vibe and moves we wanted, including the lift I dreamed of. We had eight lessons with Helen, which gave us plenty of time to learn, practice, and perfect the dance. She is an amazing teacher–patient, kind, and always working at our pace. Helen made sure we understood every part of the choreography, fine-tuning details like dance movements, arm positioning, and facial expressions. She even gave us tips on when to pause for the photographer. Helen recorded our progress at each lesson, which helped us review and improve at home. During our last lesson, Helen also taught us a few simple moves to help us for our mother/son and father/daughter dances. At the wedding, we received so many compliments on our first dance and my mom even said it was her favorite part of the day. I cannot recommend Helen highly enough. She offers private and group lessons in various dance styles like salsa, bachata, cumbia, and more. We would love to dance with her again.

As someone who never had experience with dance of any kind whatsoever, but always dreamt of trying it out someday, Hermosura Dance Productions has been a dream come true. I was so nervous to go to my first Beginner Salsa class back in February, but those nerves were quickly calmed with Helen’s warm and passionate approach to teaching dance, even at the beginner level. She takes great care to not only teach the steps and general concepts, but to incorporate style and good technique each step of the way. Her skills of observation are on another level (truly, come see for yourself!) and her instruction is accessible to anyone, new or seasoned. Group classes are safe and supportive spaces where all are welcome; I always leave feeling inspired to continue learning, excited for what we’ll do in the next class. Even transitioning to Intermediate/Advanced (you can take Beginner and Int./Adv. together, I just preferred to master the basics first), I didn’t feel out of place for a minute. HDP is awesome! Love the salsa classes and bachata classes. Helen is a phenomenal teacher. Best in the Bay Area! She is very kind, a super skilled dancer, and a is best -in-class dance teacher. From beginner to advanced, the classes are all awesome for all levels. Beyond salsa + bachata, there is also hiphop, jazz, heels, cumbia and more classes. Hermosura Dance Productions is one of the hidden gems of Fremont. My girlfriend and I come here every week for salsa and bachata lessons, and the instructors are experienced and patient. Everyone is friendly here and it’s a really nice atmosphere. They also offer private lessons and performance classes. Highly recommended!

I have accomplished life goals at Hermosura! I performed for the first time with the Hermosura ladies dance team this season. I can honestly say that it’s been a wonderful experience. Not only is Helen a very talented dancer and director, she is patient and compassionate. She meets you at your goals and pushes you further where she sees room. If it was possible, I would rate HIGHER.

I started dancing back in 2016 and at the time was learning salsa and bachata but ultimately focused on bachata. Then came covid in 2020 and I stopped dancing entirely up until 2024 where I had to start over again and luckily I found Hermosura Dance Productions (HDP). I’ve been taking bachata classes at HDP for about 6-7 months now and I must say that Helen is a fantastic teacher! She focuses on building a strong foundation to make you a better dancer which other schools just don’t teach which I wish I had engrained in me when I first started dancing. On top of the fundamentals, Helen teaches nice patterns that allow you to dance with people of different levels (as a leader, this has been great!). She also provides constructive feedback during class to help you improve your dancing as well as understand how it is danced (e.g. in bachata you are pushing the floor with your feet). I highly recommend going to HDP for classes or tailored lessons, depending on your needs. Helen teaches many styles of dance from salsa on 1 (and on 2), cumbia, bachata, and rueda. Even if you’ve never danced before, you will be welcomed to class as if you were a regular so don’t be afraid to sign up for your first class!

Helen is the main teacher and studio owner and she has a gift for meeting you at your level and giving key guidance so that you improve quickly! She also gives clear instructions when learning and always with a good dose of humor to make it fun! The choreo combos are creative and interesting and challenge you just enough.

Helen also does a great job of building community here and it doesn’t matter what level you are, if you stay long enough you will see familiar faces and people of all dance levels and it’s an inviting space!

There’s also opportunities for private classes and joining performance teams if you want to take your dance further.

Let me start by being cheeky and tell you how I absolutely hated group classes before coming to Helen. I didn’t like the “one-size fits all” preaching approach that most other instructors offer. In fact, I didn’t even liked dancing all that much to begin with, I was doing it for someone else (stereotypical right?). I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I first auditioned. I was lacking in a lot of fundamentals, yet, somehow I was lucky enough to have made it onto her training team. Oh boy, it’s like the universe wanted it to happen so that it would change my life. From the first session, I immediately fell in love with her passion. In every way she conducts herself and in every moment during her classes, you could feel her coming from a place of wanting the best for all her students, and giving her best to all of them. She is one of those rare teachers who instinctively knows how to relate to each student as unique individuals with our own learning styles, and tailors her explanation to the way that you would understand best. She doesn’t just encourage you to improve in dance, but also to grow as a person. It is in this safe place she provided that I have grown to love the journey of dancing and the art of dance itself. I now dance for myself and for the art form, and not for anyone else. I have fallen in love with the process of refining the techniques, of connecting with music and others, of letting go of shame, of loving my own body and movements, of re-discovering my identity as a performer, of continuing to break out of my own mental limitations, and gradually becoming free, through dance. Thank you Helen for being such an inspiration!

This is a real dance studio where Helen taught us how to dance,for our daughters wedding! First though she choreographed the Father Daughter dance. We can’t wait to perform them in February. Helen is a natural at this and made us all feel comfortable with the moves as we practice it becomes our own with our accents and twists. We highly recommend her DANCE Studio!

Helen & JC did an amazing job in helping us prepare for my daughters Quince. Helen taught a group of 8 kids an excellent swing routine for a surprise dance & JC worked with my husband & daughter on the father daughter dance. They were able to work around difficult schedules to help make our daughters event a real success. Both were very professional and fun to work with.

Helen and her partner were phenomenal teachers! We learned foundational salsa moves and then they tailored the lesson to our group’s ability (or inability, however you look at it) so that we could do as much as possible during the hour. They explained the moves in different ways so that we could understand our body position and the rhythm.

Helen is professional and very responsive to inquiries. I booked the lesson a few weeks in advance and they were able accommodate my request.

Great experience learning salsa and getting our special dance prepared in just 2 sessions with Helen for our 25th anniversary celebration! Helen is the sweetest person. I started taking classes here in 2022 and I absolutely LOVE IT! Groups are not too big which give the opportunity of feedback and almost 1-1 guidance. The instructor, Helen, is amazing. She is a kind a patient person who makes you feel confident. And the workshops are very fun! I took a heels workshop and it was the best thing ever.

I took a couple of classes here and gotta say it was very good, love the attention to fundamentals but with a fun touch.

Totally would recommend.

I attended a Beginner Cumbia class and Helen was super friendly and an amazing instructor! She broke down the basics in a way that I could easily understand, worked at a slow pace that allowed me to keep up with her instructions, and was encouraging throughout the whole class. We even got into learning turns towards the end of the class. The cute decor at the studio is also a plus. 🙂

A small, cozy studio with great flooring and a talented professional teacher, Helen, left me with the best memories. I took several salsa lessons at this studio and was very pleased. Helen is an amazing teacher.

There’s a healthy mix of her style and salsa fundamentals. Her classes follow the “standard” format of solo work then partner work, but it’s not a set schedule.

Helen is open to questions and will speed up, slow down, or repeat based off how the class responds.

Classes do feel tailored rather than just going through the motions, and it helps that class sizes are small.

I wanted cumbia classes in Fremont and found Hermosura Dance and it has been a great experience. Helen is a wonderful teacher! She has the ability to teach the very basics to complex concepts and that’s a great skill for dance teachers. I highly recommend Hermosura Dance for any Latin dance and Quinceañeras dance.

Helen is one of the best Latin dance instructors in the Bay Area. She thoroughly explains the techniques behind her choreography and is extremely patient. Her dance class is a real mood booster for me.
